Reblog: Experiment that convinced me online porn is the most pernicious threat facing children today: By ex-lads mag editor MARTIN DAUBNEY | Mail Online

I can speak directly into this: Porn is everywhere. There’s nothing you can’t find and frequently it’s thrown into your face.

Let me tell you point blank, I’m pretty familiar with it. If you never listen to me about anything else, listen to this: Guys, porn will destroy you. No, you’re not getting away with it. Yes, it IS affecting you and your relationships. No, it’s not okay. No, it’s not a tool to use with your wife.

Porn is a pervasive evil that knows where to hit people the hardest- the spot that makes people feel the best. Click through and read the article and watch the vids as they come out at this link right HERE. You *cannot* afford porn, neither can kids, and neither can I.

But what I saw during the making of the film changed my opinion of pornography forever. The true stories of boys I met whose lives had been totally taken over by porn not only moved me to tears but also made me incredibly angry that this is happening to our children. And the looks of revulsion on those poor girls faces in the playground enraged me. I feel as if an entire generations sexuality has been hijacked by grotesque online porn.

What Does It Mean To Be a Christian

You know, we could read our Bibles every day for 20 years and not get the simple fact that Sin is dead, we’re free from the curse, and those in Christ can choose to let His life reign in them completely. I grew up in the Southern Baptist Church and never heard about any of the truth of redemption, what Jesus’ life, death , and resurrection means to the believer who struggles with ongoing sin-y flesh issues, and that shame and guilt are yokes of slavery.

Instead of me writing an epic post I wanted to share a video I watched recently that is probably the best and most concise explanation of what IS a Christian along with some other tidbits. It’s almost 40 minutes, but it is well worth it. If you have trouble explaining Christianity to your friends who ask, here’s a nice place to point them (and it’s a nice presentation of the Gospel, too). And a refresher of who we are in Christ is always a good thing. This is not boring.

Wednesday Worship

What if we could wake up and tell the whole day that God is the victor, go out rejoicing that every need is met and every hurt healed? What if we believed that for real? What if we really thought God is great? What would the day be like? Who would we hug? Who would we bless in Jesus’ name? And to whom would we bring the Good News?

If you’ve spent time around me you know there are songs I just can’t sing. How could my lungs and mouth cope with the wanton and wild praise of a living heart, a grateful soul, and a Spirit ready to leap into Father’s arms? No way.

The group is StikYard and I really like their sound.

One Week Anniversary

Wow. What a week.

Right now it is Saturday evening and for Sunday I am going to rest by taking a little short road trip to a recently found favorite place. I think I’ll sit in the shade of the Mulberry trees next to the creek and see if I can hear Jesus speaking in the babbling water He knew would be running past at that moment before water was even created. I think I’ll put a hand on a tree as I sometimes do and apologize (again) for one of its cousins being used as the death-place of the One who spoke it into existence. I think I’ll tell it I secretly long for the day when I can hear its throat opened up to give glory to God. I think I’ll catch a butterfly and ask it what it is like to not be under a curse, to not need a Redeemer, to be perfect and still innocent. I’ll probably ask the Ragweed to leave me alone a while.

This past week, I’ve been honest. Those places I went are where I’ve been this week myself. This is more of a personal journal, you see. A long time ago God developed in me the desire to share much of what He and I go through with each other and talk to each other about. I hope I’ve not sounded pretentious or leading or snobbish or something else. But I’m honestly not worried about it. He did most of the work. Blame Him.

Here’s a present for you. Will you gift Him back in worship for a few minutes?
